You Never Forget Your First Time: Review of Deadgirl

Deadgirl (2008)
Directed by: Marcel Sarmiento, Gadi Harel
Starring: Shiloh Fernandez, Noah Segan

Let me begin by saying that the trailer (embedded below), does not do this movie justice. This is a very twisted movie with a plot and story that are not for the faint of heart. But let’s start from the beginning.

It starts off like your typical high school setting: there is a 17-year old that is kind of a rebel. Dresses a little dark, kind of stays by himself and is always looking at the popular girl that he can’t have because she is dating the jock. This is Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) who has a best friend name J.T. (Noah Segan). They decide to go to an abandoned hospital so they can drink beers and trash the place. J.T. decides to scare Rickie and takes him down into the tunnels beneath the hospital. They end up stumbling upon a room which they force open and find a dead girl. The only thing is, she isn’t actually dead.

Here is where the movie takes a very twisted turn. It turns out that J.T. finds this woman to be pretty attractive and decides to have his way with her to the disappointment of Rickie. As the movie continues, it dives deeper into the hole that J.T. has begun to dig himself. His insatiable thirst for sex seems to drive him mad. The movie finally ends with another expected twist so be prepared to stay on the edge of your seat.

Overall, I would recommend this movie if you are looking for something a little creepy and disturbing to watch. This is an independent film but is has won several awards and is worth the watch, in my opinion. So grab some popcorn, put in the movie, and be prepared to be disgusted and disturbed.

On a scale of 0-10
Acting: 7
Plot: 7
Production: 6
Overall: 7

Pros: It is a disturbing horror movie that pushes the moral limits, great pick for when you want a disturbing, bloody flick.

Cons: The acting isn’t all that great, may be too disturbing for the faint of heart.
